Know these cold
- OSI layers 1–7: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, Application.
- Passive recon (OSINT, WHOIS, Google dorks) leaves no trace; active recon touches the target.
- DNS records: A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT; zone transfers leak everything.
- Port states: open, closed, filtered. nmap is the scanner.
